Good Tidings from The Malton Kings

Christmas is coming just a tad early this year for collectors of fine Swiss horology as Marvin is releasing its new Limited Edition Malton 160 Collector Box sets just in time for, you guessed it, BaselWorld. Surprise, surprise!

I’m not going to spend a lot of time describing all the juicy details behind these new sweethearts. The detailed specs are described in the accompanying press kits [English, French]. Suffice to say these boxed surprises are chock full of horology eye candy.

Each cube contains a collector’s delight of horology achievement. And each collection is named after the Biblical Three Kings Melchior, Balthazar, and Gaspar. Why these figures? Because they celebrate the advent of a new spirit in the great Marvin tradition of sharing, travel, and adventure.

In a nutshell: three limited collections, one set of four pieces per box, with only eight boxes available per collection.

Each set contains four pieces, each with a different movement: Dubois-Dépraz regulator, ETA 2897, Sellita SW200, and Rhonda 7004B – Yes, you read right, we sneaked a quartz Malton in each collection. New time, new codes :)

You’ll also discover four different (and interchangeable!) strap skins (leather, calfskin, alligator and lizard). Add to this a rich variety of materials, colors scheme, and styles (Clou de Paris and carbon fiber dials, for example). And of course, the famous Marvin “eight serendipitous details” are all there as well.

The end result? A typical Marvin production “tour de force” – steeped in traditional horology with attention to detail, craftsmanship, and quality. And more importantly, in sync with modern times and desires, as a “new” watchmaker with 160 years of heritage should be.

Oh, and let’s not forget the icing on the cake, which is the price tag on these magic cubes…Details to come out during BaselWorld :)

So if you thought Swiss watch collecting wasn’t in your budget, we bring you good tidings. Come visit us at BaselWorld this year, and our Three Kings will turn your collector dreams into reality.

    Hi @Ray,

There is no link to a price list in the post as we didn’t specify them (yet) – we’ll be releasing the information shortly at BaselWorld stay tune but I suspect you’ll be pleasantly surprised :)
    Best,
    J.

  3. Vincent says:

    Wow, love the Melchior!!

  4. Jerome says:

Thanks Vincent! Ypu coming to see them? What country are u in? They’re gonna take several world trips soon :)

  5. Randy says:

The Melchior is gorgeous! So if I understand correctly each collection features 4 watches each with the same case and dial the difference being the movement, each having a different one?

  6. JeromePineau says:

@Randy – not that simple :) Not only do they have 4 different movements, they also have 4 interchangeable straps (lizard, alligator, leather and calfskin) and different designs points – the Clous de Paris dial with the blued steel hands, then the carbon fiber dials, and of course the color schemes.

Feel free to inspect the technical details (links above) and let me know if you need any additional info. I think 2 boxes are gone already. I have a feeling they won’t stick around too long – only 8 of each.

    Best,
    J.

  7. Willy Henri Pfister says:

    Thanks, Paul
