As we say goodbye to the winter holidays and we try to find our way out of indulgence (or wrapping paper! or snow! or both), many of us find it difficult to admit the strange things we have promised during New Year’s celebration, also known as New Year’s resolutions.
Making New Year’s resolutions is a very serious thing for many people. Note: proceeding to failing at them within a month’s time is even more serious to most of them. The thrill of New Year’s Eve and the magic of a new beginning (or is it that fine champagne?) stimulates people to reflect on things they would like to change and helps them set goals they would like to achieve in the coming year. Most of them gravitate around restrictions or giving up bad habits (the sum of the vices tends though to remain constant), some of them are very positive but -let’s face it- not very realistic (jogging twice a week seemed a great idea the very first time) and only a very tiny percentage actually turn into reality.
People who are short on New Year’s resolutions might consider putting down on a piece of paper all the things they would not like to do in the upcoming twelve months or just borrow one from Google. Jokes apart, considering all the divergent points of view around this topic, we would really like to know which are your resolutions for 2011 and how do you plan to achieve them. Do you need New Year’s resolutions in the first place?
