I was thrilled to learn today that the Dalai Lama actually has a real Twitter account. Apparently there was a fake Dalai running around on Twitter before but now, his account @DalaiLama on http://www.twitter.com/DalaiLama has been verified (so they say). Awesome.
My first inclination was to find out if he’d be interested in wearing a Marvin. I have a feeling he’d like a Marvin. Why? Because it’s an unassuming, affordable, high quality time piece. And I can think of several models that would match his wardrobe really nicely. Like this quartz one (hint: no leather) or this cool mechanical one, for example. Additionally, given the less-than-optimal reception he seems to have received in Washington lately, I figured a nice new Marvin might make up for some of that “stinky” experience.
It didn’t take me long to do a little research on Google just to find out that apparently, his Holiness is partial to Rolex. Talk about a major blow! Of course, it’s entirely possible that the Dalai Lama might be open to enjoying several different brands. So maybe there is hope after all. I have a hard time imagining him wearing a hugely expensive time piece on purpose. I don’t know much about the gentleman, but I suspect the quaint elegance of a Marvin might suit him better.
So if you’re out there reading this blog, your Holiness, please shoot me an email or a twit and I will happily set you up with a brand new Marvin

I wonder….. if he wore one of your models , you could call it the Marvin D.L “Spirit can heal” limited edition. Do you think it would sell well in Bejing?
How about if Obama wore a Marvin, you could call it “Never give up on your dreams” That limited pc could sell like hot cakes.
I really think that Marvin watches suit interesting personalities from all walks of life. They’re really cool!!
I don’t know about a Dalai Lama watch name
Obama wears a special issue Secret Service watch. If I remember correctly he was a Tag guy before.
Thanks for the kind words – I agree
