Whoever said “God is in the detail” was probably wearing a Marvin. The saying is commonly attributed to Gustave Flaubert (le bon dieu est dans le détail) who lived between 1821 and 1880. Given those dates, it’s actually possible he might have owned one!
There’s great pleasure in discovering a watch’s little secrets over time. Especially when you least expect it. Such little “hidden gems” are abundant in each and every Marvin. For example, although I’ve owned my M004 for three months now, I had never until now realized that the time indicators on the orange dial band were actually Roman numerals! This kind of serendipitous detail in a (quartz nonetheless!) watch is what a deep, indulgent, complete, elegant, and emotive watch product is all about.
Marvin distinguishes itself by adorning each of its time pieces with a consistent set of unique design details. Call it watch DNA if you will.
Sign #1: The red “8″
Every Marvin watch has a subtle red “marker” at the 8 o’clock position. This mysterious sign was trademarked in 1850. Currently under lock and key at the Corporate Attorney’s office, it’s meaning will remain secret by executive order until 2038 when Marvin turns 188 years old.
Sign #2: The Didisheim stamp
Another distinguishing feature is the “M&E D” company seal on the lower left side of every watch case. It stands for Marc & Emmanuel Didisheim, who founded Marvin in 1850.
Sign #3: The Marvin crown
You’ll also notice the Marvin crown symbol stamped on every stem and every bracelet clasp. The crown represents the blending of the Marvin “M” and the “W” of watch.
Sign #4: Case finish
The brushed metal cases are framed by polished angled lugs, making for a rich yet subtle contrast.
Sign #5: Push-button straps
Interchangeable at the push of a button, leather or metal bracelets complete each watch in supple comfort.
Sign #6: Red leather underbelly
Turn the watch over, and you’ll notice every French leather strap is underlined in rich Marvin red.
Sign #7: Beveled crystal
The sapphire crystal on every mechanical piece is slightly raised and beveled, giving the watch unique refractive properties.
Sign #8: Diamond quality
For diamond encrusted models, Marvin uses small inclusion Wesselton diamonds.
It is this myriad of serendipitous details that truly defines the character of the Marvin brand in each and every watch manufactured, with love, from Switzerland.

Does anybody know if Marvin will be sold in the UK?
Hi Dan,
My guess is yes, but quite honestly I am not sure exactly when. We’ve received numerous requests and interest from the UK so I wouldn’t be surprised if we got distributorships/retail lined up for the country. I will know more in the coming weeks as I am moving to HQ over in Switzerland.
What I DO know for sure is that you’ll be able to order from our online store e-shop when it opens up later this year.
As plans firm up for additional distribution to additional countries, I will make sure to update our News section http://www.marvinwatches.com/news/headlines.
You might also wish to sign up for notification on the e-shop opening at http://www.marvinwatches.com/shop-subscription.
Hope this answers your question otherwise feel free to email me at jpineau@marvinwatches.com anytime.
I have a Marvin from the 60’s (1960 …) and I would like to know more things about it! can I have your help ? Thanks
Hi Filomena, we are happy to help! Could you please send us a couple of high resolution pictures of the watch (front and back) at community(at)marvinwatches.com so that we can have a look at it? Many thanks and best regards from the Marvin team.
Is there any place to buy your watches online yet? I really want to pick up a Malton 160 Cushion (tried to win the charity one on eBay) but can’t find it. A lot of people will move on to other watches if these don’t pop up soon.
Please let us know! Your designs are fantastic.
@Eric – try shop.marvinwatches.com before “moving on” to other watches = Trust me, it was worth the wait!
Thanks, there really needs to be an easier to find link on the Marvin homepage- I didn’t see it anywhere at all.
You are correct @Eric – That’s because the eshop is not officially released yet! So consider yourself “in the loop” my friend
– We will not be communicating officially about the eshop until Basel. Nevertheless, be interested to get your feedback on it now – feel free to email me at jerome@marvinwatches.com if you care to share one on one.
Thanks!
