Celebrity Chefs and Marvins – Perfect Together

There are people in life who wear watches exclusively for looks and fashion. Say like celebrities or CEOs for example. Others do so exclusively for need. I can think of policemen, pilots, divers or fire fighters to name a few. And then there are those who wear watches for both reasons. Among those you will find famous Chefs.

Cooking and kitchen management are obviously very dependent on timing. But these folks are celebrities in their own right and very fashion-conscious at the same time. As my passion for watches is only matched by my fascination with all things food and wine, you can bet I’ve been paying attention to celebrity Chef wrists recently.

See, when you work in the watch industry, you start developing a keen sense of “watch spotting”. It’s like having tunnel vision on people’s wrists. You meet or see people in a crowd or on TV and within milliseconds, you check out their watches before even looking at their faces or the rest of them! It becomes second nature.

For example, two of my favorite Food Channel personas, namely  Anthony Bourdain and Andrew Zimmern both seem to be brand ambassadors for Tag Heuer. Zimmern, of Bizarre Food fame, often wears his red Formula One Sport Tag and sometimes a JLC (according to the good folks on watchyouseek.com). And Bourdain seems partial to a Tag quartz chronograph on his No Reservations show.

Now, in all honesty, I have no idea if these two guys are actually contracted to wear any of these by either Tag Heuer or other brands, but I tend to doubt it. I think they just like these pieces. That’s why I think they’d probably be open to wearing Marvins as well. Why? Because Marvins are perfect for Chefs. They’re elegant, functional, and most importantly, unique. Chefs are individualistic people by nature. Wearing a Tag or a Breitling is nice, but let’s face it, not exactly a statement of originality. Unlike, for example, a Marvin.

What would I recommend for either of these two gentlemen? Well given their hectic schedules and propensity for “extreme” travel, here’s a model I think would work for them, the Marvin M103. So if any of your are (or know) a famous or upcoming Chef out there, give me a holler and I’ll show you how to get cooking with a Marvin :)
